The last few weeks have been anything but dull or boring.

When life unexpectedly surprises you… yip, it’s been those kinda days.
Not that I mind.
Oh no… my heart just oozes more and more gratitude.

I’m currently on deadline with a major project and as the time ticks on so do my shattered nerves.
The truth is I like it this way; some of my best work is done under extreme pressure.

Today, my song of choice is by Bill Withers (Lovely Day)… the louder I turn it up, the more relaxed and in control, I feel.
I hope you enjoy it:

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Author, books, caring, change, Christians, Cristina Cain, experience, fabulous, favoured, God, Hearing, journey, kind, life, Listening, Lives, Loving, perspective, Picture, Polite, purpose, reading, sharing, Speaking, story, truth, Twitter, writing

So it’s no secret that I love, love, love books.

Thanks to twitter I stumbled across a specific timeline that had a picture of a book entitled “You Can Hear God”; of course I wanted to know more and then connected with the author, Cristina Cain.
And what an amazing experience…

Have you ever met someone and it feels like you’ve known them your whole life?
You know the kind of person who’s genuine, kind, caring, God-fearing, calls a spade a spade, loving, polite human being… that is Cristina.

In today’s superficial world, it’s refreshing to meet someone truly authentic.
I caught up with Cristina earlier this week to find out more about her book and this is what she had to say:

·How did this book come about?
The book came about from a Supernatural experience I had in 2003…which I speak about in the book.
As I learned about my gifts, God said I would one day do the same for millions of lives, and so the prophecy is now being fulfilled.

·Tell me more about this book – an overview?
It’s about me sharing how I developed an attunement to the voice of God. Growing up with a special gift of prophecy, I later explored ways to incorporate this gift to heal and help others. On my journey, there were stumbling blocks and I share about how we can often be distracted by these (as we continue in our spiritual quest) and how they can thwart how we embrace God and our spiritual progress. My story is one of awareness, submission to God, and discerning how to use your God-given gifts to honor His name.

·Who should read this book?
I would say anyone who has ever desired to hear from God Himself, the churched and un-churched. I especially encourage those who seek out psychics, and mediums, these people hunger for TRUTH, and we know as believers that Jesus is the way, the TRUTH, and the Life. This book allows both beginner, and mature Christian to learn about the voice of God in a deeper meaningful way.

·Why should they read this book?
You will not have to make endless, unnecessary mistakes by being led of your own understanding. The Voice of God will have you choose the right spouse, career, friends, and lead you into a prosperous life that only he can offer. We have one opportunity to “get it right”. As believers in Christ Jesus, we know there’s no such notion, idea, as reincarnation, so hearing the voice of God will allow us to get it right the first time.

·How did your love of writing come about?
The joy of writing began as I studied Journalism and Broadcasting in college. I had an amazing Professor, a very well respected Poet, who encouraged the writer in me. He made the creative process and fine tuning the grammatical, a marriage. For me that simply made sense and I began to grasp it in a way I never did.

·What book or books have had the most influence on you or your writing style?
There’s not one book in particular. I love a book that I can identify with, and one that gets right to the point, easy to read. So in writing this book, God made it clear to keep it very simplistic, relatable and that’s what makes it enjoyable, yet powerful.

·Can we expect other books from you?
Yes more are on the way, just taking a much needed break. Truly writing takes every fibre of your being, and I’m trying to be replenished, still. I have no desire to put out books just for the sake of it; I must be prompted by the Holy Spirit.

·Any other final comments…
This is a great book, a tool for prophetic children, and for those with prophetic giftings. Also an interesting way to win souls for those who may never enter the four walls called church. Lastly, it’s a great stocking stuffer for Christmas.

P.S This book is available at Amazon, iBook, Barnes & Noble online and in Barnes & Noble stores in Orlando, FL.

choices, deadlines, Email, fabulous, favoured, God, Gratitude. Blessing, reading, Road, Text, thank you, time, Working, writing

When I started this blog exactly one year ago to the day, I had no idea that it would be so much fun.

It’s been a wonderful experience and the connections made are just amazing.
Of course, channels of this nature can also be a breeding ground for trolls, but fortunately the spam filter in place takes care of those.

I’m often asked whether I “run out of things to write about”… No, there’s still so much I’d like to share.
I just wish there were more hours in the day for me to write. But, I’m working on that.

I’m currently on a break between deadlines and thought I’d extend my gratitude.

Thank you to those who choose to follow.
Thank you to those who choose to comment.
Thank you to those who choose to rather email or text after reading a post.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

My hope for you this day and always, is from an Irish blessing:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

authentic, Colleague, day, deadlines, Editing, fabulous, favoured, Flame, Job, laughter, life, passion, Passionate, Read, Realisation, Shine, talk, time, time out, work, writing

I had one of those I love my job kinda days.
It was super duper… even though it started at 4am, it just got better and better with each passing hour.

Deadlines.
Writing.
Editing.
Random bursts of laughter.

I think the one most important aspect of today was the realisation that the passion I have is like a flame that keeps burning stronger instead of diminishing with time. While speaking to a colleague, suddenly the penny dropped… no matter what happens in life, nothing and no one can extinguish the fire that resides within you. They might try but boy oh boy, someone’s going to get the short end of the stick and it’s certainly not going to be the authentic, passionate person 🙂

If you find yourself in a funk with doubts or questions, take time out or speak to someone… soon you will realise that you never really lost that flame. It was still burning, just not as intensely as when you started out.
Now go out there and shine, brighter than before.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

authenticity, Divine purpose, evolve, fabulous, favoured, friend, grace, gratitude, life, no excuse, passion, perspective, reflect, stop. focus, time, writing

One of my very dear friends sent me a text: “I noticed you haven’t posted a blog for a while now – what’s the deal? No excuses.”

Boom.
Busted.

The truth is I’ve been working round the clock so any “free time” I have is spent either catching a nap or thinking about… Shanghai. Yes, you read right. I might be based in South Africa but my heart is in Shanghai.
Now that’s a topic for another time.

In my last post I mentioned that the last few weeks were somewhat challenging (with amazing revelations) and there were lessons to be shared. In no particular order, allow me to encourage you:

* If your life is centred on God you shall stand the test of time. Why? Because when you are at your weakest His grace sustains you.

* The way someone chooses to react to you or the way you conduct yourself is not about you.

* People will talk, let them… the ones assigned to your inner circle and who know your worth/ value don’t entertain those assertions.

* You don’t have to sell your soul to be part of the popular clique – this is not high school. Your authenticity sets you apart.

* There may be times you feel as though you are standing alone (cue: Celine Dion’s All by Myself…) stand anyhow. Separation is vital as you evolve.

* There are times it feels like the curveballs are coming at you every minute of every day. You will survive.

* Don’t hold into something or someone longer than you should. Once the purpose has been served let it/ them go…

* Stop. Reflect. Refocus.

And while on the point of focus, if you visit this page then you know that I’m a big fan of perspective. I was fortunate to cross paths with a gentleman called Willem; of all the places it was on the streets of Twitter.

Talk about inspiring and offering a different perspective… during our exchange I realised that no matter how busy I am, it should not take me away from the thing I love most… writing.

You can find out more about Willem:

And so wonderful person reading this, take this this thing we call LIFE in your stride. Make time for your passion and as you edge closer to your Divine purpose, your heart will swell with a sense of fulfillment and gratitude.

authentic, evolve, experiences, fun, help, interact, learn, lessons, play, sharing, strangers, talk, talking, words, world, writing

There’s an advert where a child asks her grandmother: “What did you do for fun?” And the grandmother responds: “We cooked and baked.”

I always imagine what my response would be if I was ever asked that question…

I’d probably offer two words: I write.

It’s true. I write when I’m happy. I write when I’m sad. I write when I think I’ve got the best story to share. A large chunk of my work involves writing or playing with words as I like to say. Yes, I call it playing with words because it’s such fun.

I was actually thinking about how I ended up in the writing world… I mean I once wanted to be a nun. I kid you not. When I realised that I’m not convent material, I then thought about being a social worker… I thought I could save the world. Sigh.

Only heaven knows how I ended up writing for a living. Not that I’m complaining. I quite enjoy what I do; except for the times when writer’s block kicks in.

So what is it about writing that I love so much?

Mmmm….
Stop.
Pause.
And go….

When I write, it allows me to:

· Talk – if there was an award for someone who talks up a storm, I’d get it.
· Be authentic
· Share experiences
· Share thoughts
· Share lessons – the good and the not so good.
· Help others – directly or indirectly
· Learn more about myself
· Learn about what makes others tick
· Experience a sense of fulfillment that words cannot explain
· Experience a sense of freedom that comes with allowing your thoughts to rain down
· Experience the excitement that comes with seeing a simple sentence grow
· Find different ways of saying something
· Interact with others
· Learn from these interactions
· Feel like I can connect with complete strangers
· Take a trip down memory lane
· Smile at the recollection of a moment
· Cry and let go of situations/people
· Evolve… move closer to my purpose

Thank you for taking the time to read.

coffee, copious amounts, deadlines, Douglas Adams, news, work, writing

It’s no secret that I’m a news junkie. Even though I left the world of newspapers and copious amounts of coffee some time back, I still get my fair dose of deadline fixes in my current role.

Friday’s are meant to be chilled out and many are usually starting to zone out in preparation for the weekend ahead. Not on my side.

It’s go-go-go from the moment my alarm clock sounds until my day ends; and that time varies.

What is it about deadlines that keep me wanting more?

Douglas Adams said it best: “I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.”

For me, each deadline is like starting a race. Ready. Steady. Go… Some of my best work has been produced during those adrenaline pumping times.

Those who know me know that one of my pet peeves is missing a deadline. Granted, there will be instances where a deadline is missed, and we should leave way for a degree of flexibility, but for the most part if you’ve committed to something then get your game plan together and get moving.

A missed deadline = an exception and not the norm.

And on that note, let me prepare for my next deadline.

Thank you for taking the time to read.
