I hope YOU choose to enter the new year, new decade with endless faith, oodles of optimism and most importantly, the right inner circle.

If this last year has taught me anything, boundaries are more critical than you know. Choosing to have boundaries simply means that YOU choose to be surrounded by people who share your outlook, share a similar approach and refuse to compromise core fundamentals – like the truth, honesty, integrity, compassion, kindness and love.

As we chart through various stages of life, we meet so many people along the way. Some of them come into our lives for a reason, season (painful and expensive lessons in some instances) and lifetime.

The key is to discern an individual’s role in your journey; and embrace and accept the role he/she is meant to fulfil for the said period. The fact is that holding on when a reason or season is over brings with it unnecessary frustration, hurt and pain so let go when you ought to.

All relationships should evolve (and dissolve) organically. Period. #youllcatchthatinaminute

With 2019 about to come to an end, let us make a conscious choice to refrain from taking the same “mistakes” into a new decade. There’s still time to do a thorough “spring clean”.

Your choices and decisions should be based on what’s best for YOU.

For your journey.

For your peace of mind.

With a new year. With a new decade. We get to make better choices. We get to put ourselves first. We get to stop pretending. We get to stop keeping up appearances. We get to be the voice that keeps it REAL 24/7.

My wish for you: may YOU never sacrifice your peace of mind and mental health to please anyone. Be true to YOU and always choose to have the courage of your convictions, even if you are standing alone. And never ever allow any person to disrespect you… cut your losses and walk away.

The right people will appreciate and love you unconditionally.

Blessings, love and perfect peace to you, always in 2020!

2019, authentic, choices, decisions, Destiny, Expectation, Faithful, family, Friends, Glory, God, grace, gratitude, heart, Honour, journey, joy, love, new year, Path, peace, purpose, Sorrow, tears

… I sigh a breath of relief because it’s only through God’s grace that I remain standing; and able to share this post.

If ever there was a year that showed me flames, it was 2018. I shall spare you the detail but if you remember anything from this post, know that whatever and whoever is sent to put a spoke in the wheels of your destiny, it will not succeed. I say this confidently because boy, oh, boy… did they come fast and furiously. And each attempt was thwarted and came to naught, thanks to the Hand of God over my life.

I cried a lot this year.
It was a combination of tears of joy and tears of sorrow; some I personally experienced and others I witnessed.

There were tears for the disappointment in the way some prospective projects folded.
There were tears for the disappointment in the way some people (including family) behaved.
There were tears for the disappointment in the way some people chose to defeat the ends of justice to save face instead of taking responsibility for their untoward choices/decisions.
There were tears for the disappointment in the way some associations dissolved before they even took off.
There were tears for the disappointment in the way some people used people as pawns in their game of life.
There were tears for the disappointment in the way some people choose to continue along the path of a dysfunctional façade knowing full well that these actions have a domino effect.

Some of the hardest tears were for the ties that I chose to sever in the name of self-preservation and peace of mind. Like my mentor pointed out, ‘Jesus did not resurrect Judas and neither should you’. And also, forgiveness does not equate to re-association.

So in all the tears, pain and disappointment, I’m most grateful for the fact that it brought me to my knees and made me draw closer to God. There was many a night I was face flat on the floor either crying out in prayer or having these heated debates with God trying to figure out the why. Until, one morning, He whispered “be still and trust Me”.

And when that penny dropped, the journey became more enjoyable and the revelations came about sooner and more clearly.

With the start of the New Year just days away, I continue to look ahead with great expectation, an open heart and confident that He that started a good work will make sure it manifests as and when it should.

As you embrace 2019:

May you honour yourself (and your space) and enforce the relevant boundaries.
Let your no be no and your yes, be yes.
May you walk in purpose and never compromise the work you are called to do, all for His glory.
May you never settle for anything less than you deserve.

More importantly, may your heart be filled with perfect peace, undiluted joy and gratitude for all things (big and small).

Love. Love. And more love to you and yours for 2019 and beyond…

The luxury of simplicity…

Baggage, Blessing, brother, caring, change, fabulous, family, favoured, friendship, gratitude, journey, life, Moving, Pay it forward, perspective, purpose, Sabbatical, Simplicity, Spring clean, thankful, time, Travelling

I like open, uncluttered spaces.

I don’t hoard (thankfully) and spring clean every now and then to make sure I only have what I need at that point in time.

With my last house move, I promised myself that that would be the last time. Well, that wasn’t to be and a few weeks ago, I found myself packing up and moving. Again.

After much thought, I decided to take a sabbatical. In terms of the time factor, well that’s a post for another day.

Back  to the move…

With my previous house moves, I had my bff also known as my brother, Jarryd Kast, on hand to help (read: do most of the work). This time it was just me and my helper, Hazel. Now, if ever there was an angel on earth, Hazel would be that person.

Where Jarryd would take the lead and ensure all the ducks were in a row, this time round Hazel fulfilled that role. Super organised and super efficient is an understatement. The actual day of the move, we got moving bright and early which allowed me time to have lunch with a very dear friend, before I hit the road.

This move made me realise…

Half the stuff we have is hardly ever utilised regularly (if at all) and we realise this only when it’s time to move. I found a blender, pasta maker, a blouse and a jacket, all with price tags still on.  What a complete waste… that was until, I decided these items would be better off elsewhere. And that’s how “operation give-away” unfolded.

I gave away most things and kept just a few necessities. Of course my mother thought I had lost the plot and asked if I was smoking something. The truth is, I don’t know how long this sabbatical is going to be and my thinking is why hold on to things that another family a) needs and b) would make better use of.

So, with the few belongings I chose to keep tucked away in storage, I feel light. I don’t have that nagging feeling about what if the lounge suite, fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, iron breaks or is no longer working when this sabbatical is over. I know that the family that was blessed with these things are happier and these items are making everyday life that much more comfortable for them.

The other bonus is that when it’s time to take that next step, I’ll be travelling light. Who needs excess baggage anyway?!

Thank you for taking the time to read.

In this moment, I’m thankful for:

* the grace to see another day

* laughter

*unconditional love

* authentic relationships

* chocolate on demand

* the space I get to call “me time”

* people/ situations who help me realise what I don’t want

* the fact that I choose not to settle

* the fact that I choose who to invite into my personal space

* the realisation that some bridges are meant to be burnt and never walked again

* letting go of someone once their part in your story is over – it’s all about reason, season, lifetime…

* every single lesson (no matter how bitter-sweet) that has gotten me to this point

* being blessed to be a blessing

As I continue to move forth with purpose and determination, let me never for one minute take the gift of each moment or freedom to choose for granted.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Blessing, Closed door, Created, Destiny, Detour, Distance, fabulous, favoured, grace, gratitude, heart, Heartache, journey, Moulded, perspective, purpose, Silence, tears, thank you, thankful, The Potter, time, Walk

Today, I sit and write with the biggest smile on my face… and a heart bursting with gratitude.
Let me share why:

* I’m super thankful for the grace and love of our Father. It sustains me even on those days when I feel like I’m running on empty.

* I’m super thankful for severed ties. I’m all for building bridges but when God says move on, and move on without them, then who am I to whimper?!

* I’m super thankful for the distance and silence from certain quarters because sometimes we are too close to a situation or person to realise that there’s no real value or meaning in that association.

* I’m super thankful for all the misguided attempts and bets about my destiny that all came to naught. When you wage a bet against a daughter of the most High then you best be prepared to lose. Boom!

yourpart

* I’m super thankful for every “no” or closed door I received because it made me realise that that was just a blessing in disguise.

* I’m super thankful for the detour my journey has taken and how this new avenue has opened my eyes and heart in ways I could never have imagined.

* I’m super thankful for every tear shed and every moment my heart ached because those times and His grace have allowed me to keep walking boldly.

When I look back at the year that was, there are some experiences that make me want to run for cover. But, the one thing that I’ve learnt is that when you are walking in purpose, nothing and no-one can break what the Potter has designed and moulded.

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Author, books, caring, change, Christians, Cristina Cain, experience, fabulous, favoured, God, Hearing, journey, kind, life, Listening, Lives, Loving, perspective, Picture, Polite, purpose, reading, sharing, Speaking, story, truth, Twitter, writing

So it’s no secret that I love, love, love books.

Thanks to twitter I stumbled across a specific timeline that had a picture of a book entitled “You Can Hear God”; of course I wanted to know more and then connected with the author, Cristina Cain.
And what an amazing experience…

Have you ever met someone and it feels like you’ve known them your whole life?
You know the kind of person who’s genuine, kind, caring, God-fearing, calls a spade a spade, loving, polite human being… that is Cristina.

In today’s superficial world, it’s refreshing to meet someone truly authentic.
I caught up with Cristina earlier this week to find out more about her book and this is what she had to say:

·How did this book come about?
The book came about from a Supernatural experience I had in 2003…which I speak about in the book.
As I learned about my gifts, God said I would one day do the same for millions of lives, and so the prophecy is now being fulfilled.

·Tell me more about this book – an overview?
It’s about me sharing how I developed an attunement to the voice of God. Growing up with a special gift of prophecy, I later explored ways to incorporate this gift to heal and help others. On my journey, there were stumbling blocks and I share about how we can often be distracted by these (as we continue in our spiritual quest) and how they can thwart how we embrace God and our spiritual progress. My story is one of awareness, submission to God, and discerning how to use your God-given gifts to honor His name.

·Who should read this book?
I would say anyone who has ever desired to hear from God Himself, the churched and un-churched. I especially encourage those who seek out psychics, and mediums, these people hunger for TRUTH, and we know as believers that Jesus is the way, the TRUTH, and the Life. This book allows both beginner, and mature Christian to learn about the voice of God in a deeper meaningful way.

·Why should they read this book?
You will not have to make endless, unnecessary mistakes by being led of your own understanding. The Voice of God will have you choose the right spouse, career, friends, and lead you into a prosperous life that only he can offer. We have one opportunity to “get it right”. As believers in Christ Jesus, we know there’s no such notion, idea, as reincarnation, so hearing the voice of God will allow us to get it right the first time.

·How did your love of writing come about?
The joy of writing began as I studied Journalism and Broadcasting in college. I had an amazing Professor, a very well respected Poet, who encouraged the writer in me. He made the creative process and fine tuning the grammatical, a marriage. For me that simply made sense and I began to grasp it in a way I never did.

·What book or books have had the most influence on you or your writing style?
There’s not one book in particular. I love a book that I can identify with, and one that gets right to the point, easy to read. So in writing this book, God made it clear to keep it very simplistic, relatable and that’s what makes it enjoyable, yet powerful.

·Can we expect other books from you?
Yes more are on the way, just taking a much needed break. Truly writing takes every fibre of your being, and I’m trying to be replenished, still. I have no desire to put out books just for the sake of it; I must be prompted by the Holy Spirit.

·Any other final comments…
This is a great book, a tool for prophetic children, and for those with prophetic giftings. Also an interesting way to win souls for those who may never enter the four walls called church. Lastly, it’s a great stocking stuffer for Christmas.

P.S This book is available at Amazon, iBook, Barnes & Noble online and in Barnes & Noble stores in Orlando, FL.

I love reading.
If I was stranded on a deserted island with nothing more than a pile of books, I’d be the happiest person.

Whether it’s curled up on my bed or couch, outside on the grass or sinking in the sea sand, a book plus stash of chocolate (preferably Lindt) is my guilty pleasure.

While I’m not averse to modern technology, when it comes to reading I still prefer holding a book. Turning those pages and using a bookmark.

I’m also not a selfish reader, I quite enjoy passing books along.

If you are looking for a few suggestions to your reading list, below are 5 of my must reads at the moment.

Happy reading!

Choose the high road…

Apology, choices, fabulous, favoured, heart, journey, Life is short, love, pray, purpose, thank you

We never stop learning, do we?
That’s what makes our journey all the more enriching.

This optimist is all about second chances and turning the other cheek.
But, I got thinking… and of course bounced it off one of my confidantes: when is enough enough?

Of course I wasn’t surprised by the response: “G, always take the high road. Accept the apology you did not receive and more importantly, know that this is not about you.”

Exhale…

And so, as I continue along my merry way, I shall no longer waste a second on the detestable, impertinent behavior of those who choose to be that way.

Life is too short.

I was reminded of that earlier this month as I stood in a mortuary (the first time ever) and looked at my aunt; may her soul rest in peace. Here was someone with a heart of gold, someone who made such a huge impact on all those who met her. In that moment, all the negativity, toxic behavior and choices (self and others) mean absolutely NOTHING.

It can be over just like that… **claps once**

Sobering.
Sad.
Reality check.

Unless you are a passive aggressive, narcissistic soul then living a purpose driven life is probably the last thing on your mind. For the rest, go out there and love the people who deserve your love and pray for those who choose otherwise.

Thank you for taking the time to read!

May you never grow weary of living on purpose.
May you walk with boldness and authority.
May you find the courage to embrace all Divine separations – people and places (Psalm 37:23).
May you always choose to love unconditionally.
