I’ve been threatening to start this blog for the longest time. And here I am.

Sitting and staring at the keyboard in the hope that this post writes itself.

Each time I start to write I get distracted and somehow just never get back to it. But, I refuse to allow another day to go by without uploading this little note.

So what can you expect? Just my simple thoughts about life, love and everything in-between.

No day passes without spurts of gratitude and today is no different. I choose to count my blessings instead of focusing on what I don’t have.

Over the last few weeks I’ve marvelled at the way my life has panned out; I am in awe of God’s immeasurable grace and the direction He has chosen for my purpose driven journey. What I know for sure is that we could never begin to imagine or even pre-empt His moves or plans for our lives.

Moving to Richards Bay three years ago was an adventure filled with excitement and a degree of angst. The one thing (apart from grace) that got me through was knowing that my dear brother Jarryd and equally precious cousin, Nadine, were mere steps away. Knowing that I had their support gave me a quiet confidence that everything will be okay. And do you know what, even amidst the chaos and odd curveballs things turned out relatively well. I think. I believe we are all the more stronger, wiser and blessed.

Do you know what they say about not judging a book by its cover? Yip! The quaint little coastal town turned out to be anything but a stroll in the park. I guess it’s the perfect setting to retire but for a passionate, change agent, it can be just as harsh as the concrete jungle (Johannesburg)… a place that was home to me for 16 odd years.

A small town like Richards Bay is difficult for newcomers. Unless you are born and raised here, or have family… it’s very cold and not very welcoming. And at the best of times it feels like it’s still stuck in the pre-1994 era. Sigh.

I’m not sure how much longer I will stay here but until my next assignment appears, I choose to make the most of this experience. Afterall, life is about rolling with the punches… it’s about evolving into your authentic self.

Thanks for taking the time to read.
